CANTALAPIEDRA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY (2 days- 1 night)

DAY ONE

TOUR CERRO LLOVIDO (1 day)

The program includes:

• Excursion to the “Cerro Llovido” rain forest (2 to 3 hours)
• Bath in the natural pool of the river
• Country lunch
• Resting in hammocks
• Optional: journey to the vegetable and flower gardens and bamboo forests (1 hour).
End of the services

TOUR TO RÍO AYAMPE (1 day)

The program includes:

• Trekking by the river (approximately 3-4 hours)
- Birds and butterflies watching
• Arrival to the “Cantalapiedra” Wild Life Sanctuary
• Welcome juice
• Country lunch
• Resting in hammocks
• Journey to the vegetable and flower gardens and bamboo forests (1 hour).
• Bath in the natural pool of the river
• End of the services

Rental of Bikes
Bikes can be rented to ride to “Hostería Cantalapiedra” in “Puerto. López” or “Montañita” at a cost of $ 8 to 12 USD per day.

Buses
Additionally, the “Manglaralto” bus service from “Puerto Lòpez” to “Quebrada Honda” is also available, at a cost of $ 1.50 USD.

Tourist Guide
If a tourist guide is requested from “Puerto Lopez” to “Hostería Cantalapiedra”, either by bus, pick-up truck or bike, and an additional cost of $10 USD shall be paid for the tourist guide transportation.

ISLA DE LA PLATA

The program includes:

• Transportation from “Alándaluz” to “Puerto López” (and return).
• Marine transportation in tourist boats from the Continent to the Island (1h30 min each way).
• Whales watching (June- July and August)
• Guided trekking by any of the trails to the Island (3 hrs approximately)

The “Punta Machete” Trail: This trail takes you to the upper part of the Island, where you can enjoy the primitive nature and amazing landscaping. During the trekking a large population of “Piqueros de Patas Azules”, “Piqueros Enmascarados” and other species can be watched. During the months of May through December the Albatross, which are the migratory birds with the largest wings in the world, nest in the area.

The “Punta Escalera” Trail: this trail borders one side of the Island. Colonies of “Piqueros de Patas Azules”, ” Piqueros Enmascarados” and “Fragatas” can be watched. “ Piqueros Patas Rojas” can be watched in the lower section of the cliffs.

• Snorkeling can be practiced near the Island with the equipment to be provided in the boat.
• Return to the “Hostería”

MANABÍ ARCHEOLOGIC

The program includes:

• Transport from “Alándaluz” to the prehistoric city of “Agua Blanca” (and return). This is an “in situ” museum where very well maintained archeological ruins can be appreciated. These ruins formed a solar calendar to celebrate the rites of the hiemal (winter) or vernal (summer) solstices. Additionally the funeral urns of the “Manteña” culture can be observed.
• The visitor can enjoy a bath in the sulphur water lagoon and try the medicinal mud, “the natural SPA of the area.
• Lunch Box
Return to the “Hostería”.

THE BEACHES TOUR

The Program includes:
• Transport from “Alándaluz” to the “Los Frailes”, “La Playita” and “La Tortuguita” beaches (and return).

“La Playita”, ferrous sand (black), specially fit for children.

“La Tortuguita”: white sand and transparent waters, and also coral white rocks. The name comes from a witness rock located between the sand and the ocean, resembling a tortoise.

“Los Frailes”: The name comes from the trees formerly exiting in the area which were called “ovo-frailes” (a type of prune). This is the largest, white sand and calm and transparent waters beach.. There is a watch tower where the magnificent landscaping of the cliffs, beaches and virgin forests can be observed.
