A volunteers program was implemented to reach the Alandaluz and Cantalapiedra objectives, improve the agro-ecololgic, touristic, education, health, etc, projects, where students and professionals, national or foreign, become important collaborators.

Simultaneously these collaborators obtain enriching experiences as human beings and are also professionally trained.

Some values are required to the volunteers living in Alándaluz or Cantalapiedra: honesty, kindness, initiative, responsibility, care of the environment, interest in conservation and an attitude of respect and collaboration with local the communities.

When you come to work with us, you will be reciprocated with practical knowledge in the ecotouristic, hotel, gastronomy, investigation of native plants, trailing, bio-architecture, agro-ecology, landscaping, etc. areas.

Additionally, a human, warm, respectful, creative and solidarity environment will be found.

Financing:
In view of the fact that neither Alándaluz nor Cantalapiedra receive donations from other entities, thus depending entirely on their production and touristic activities, we are forced to charge a minimum amount to volunteers coming to work in our facilities. The amount is 10.00 USD per day for foreign volunteers and 7.00 US$ for national volunteers. (This amount includes accommodations and three meals per day)

Conditions:
Alándaluz and Cantalapiedra have a limited number of volunteer jobs available. Therefore, depending on the number of tourists and volunteers, each volunteer can be entitled to a private room, although in some occasions rooms must be shared.

Movilization:
Alandaluz shall provide transportation to and from Cantalapiedra for the volunteers.

Coordination for the volunteer service:
A coordinator will be available per volunteer in order to guide him during the volunteering process. Additionally the volunteer will have the support of our human team.

Plan de Trabajo:
The work plan to be carried out by the volunteer shall be agreed upon prior to arrival to either Alandaluz or Cantalapiedra through (info@hosteriacantalapiedra.com)

The daily activities shall be set up with the coordinator. The volunteer and his coordinator shall meet once per week with the Alándaluz or Cantalapiedra Administrator in order to evaluate and adjust the working schedule.

The participation of the volunteer shall be evaluated at the end of his work and stay period.

• If volunteer is an student, a certification of attendance to the University must be presented
• Life and/or medical insurance
• Good level of Spanish for foreign volunteers
• Police record (Ecuadorian volunteers)
• Photocopy of passport (foreign volunteers)
• Photocopy of ID “Cedula de Ciudadania” (Ecuadorian volunteers or legal residents)
• The cost is:
- Ten Dollars per day ($10,00 USD) for foreign volunteers
- Seven Dollars per day ($7,00 USD) for Ecuadorian volunteers
• Provide an application letter including:
- Studies
- Reasons to apply
- Date and activity in which he/she would like to participate

PROJECTS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The purpose of this program is to combine efforts with educational institutions in order to provide in the field training to future professionals. We have available a variety of fields where students can apply their knowledge. This combination of education and field work shall provide experience and develop each student’s capabilities.

Requirements for Projects development

• Personal Resume
• Minimum time of stay: 3 Months
• If applicant is an student, a certification of attendance to the University must be presented
• Students are required to present projects fit for their academic development and, at the same time, useful to Alándaluz, Cantalapiedra or the local communities.
• The projects have to be turned in with one month of anticipation
• Life and/or medical insurance
• Good level of Spanish for foreign volunteers
• Police record (Ecuadorian volunteers)
• Photocopy of passport (foreign volunteers)
• Photocopy of ID “Cedula de Ciudadania” (Ecuadorian volunteers or legal residents)
• The cost is:
- Ten Dollars per day ($10,00 USD) for foreign volunteers
- Seven Dollars per day ($7,00 USD) for Ecuadorian volunteers

• Ecotourism
- Construction of the trail to the Ecological Town
- Construction of the trail to the Cantalapiedra Wild Life Sanctuary
- Training program to the personnel or communities

• Bioarchitecture
- To complete the structure of the Bamboo Church of Puerto Rico
- To complete the structure of the Hosteria Alandaluz Convention Center
- To present proposals for new bio-architecture-type constructions

• Community Work
- Marketing Plan for the craftsman center
- Training to potential touristic guides to Cantalapiedra, Trail to Birds in the Ayampe River and agro-ecologic communities
- Development and construction of the Puerto Rico Civic Center
• Environment
- To plan and develop a dry tropical forest Botanic Garden in the Ecologic Town
- To implement adequate irrigation technologies.
- To carry out and inventory of flora and fauna at Cantalapiedra
- To develop new landscaping and gardening proposals
- To prepare natural insecticides or fungicides for the control of plagues of the zone

ALANDALUZ AND CANTALAPIEDRA REGULATIONS FOR VOLUNTEERS AND PROJECTS’ DEVELOPMENT

• The established requirements shall be provided one month prior to traveling
• The minimum stay in Alandaluz or Cantalapiedra is one month for volunteers and three months for applicants developing projects.
• Days-off shall be established according to the institution requirements
During the stay of the volunteers, the work schedules previously agreed must be complied with

The 100% of the cost of the stay shall be paid upon arrival of volunteer to Alándaluz or Cantalapiedra.
• If a volunteer chooses to leave before the agreed date, he/she shall pay for the time spent at Alándaluz or Cantalapiedra.
• Alándaluz or Cantalapiedra shall be empowered to end the permanence of the volunteer due to unfulfillment of the job assigned, misconduct or any other action against institutional principles. If this is the case, Alándaluz or Cantalapiedra shall not make any reimbursement payment
• Alcohol drinking or the use of drugs is forbidden at the Alandaluz or Cantalapiedra facilities.
• The entry of foreign persons to the installations of Alandaluz or Cantalapiedra shall not be allowed without prior authorization. The volunteers shall be open to cooperating with the various activities in Alandaluz or Cantalapiedra, as required.

Alándaluz and Cantalapiedra are committed to:

- Appoint a coordinator to assist, guide and evaluate volunteers.
- Prepare a working plan taking into consideration the likes, capabilities and aspirations of each volunteer or student.
- Create a good working environment
- Provide a certification upon completion of the volunteer work or tutorship
